Draconic synastry

Now, let’s talk about how to use the Draconic Zodiac as used in synastry. Adding the Draconic Zodiac when comparing the Tropical charts of two people will reveal the deeper, more soulful and emotional connection, as well as the purpose of the connection. The the Moon’s Nodes (which the Draconic Zodiac is based on) point to our purpose and the direction we need to grow into. So the Draconic zodiac is adding these elements to our readings, whether we’re comparing the charts of two people, or just comparing the Tropical chart with the Draconic chart of one person - which reveals missing information about that person and what they have intended to learn and grow from and into in this life.

To reiterate what I have talked about in the other blog posts about the Draconic zodiac, the Draconic is a lesser used zodiac, and is an underused addition to a comprehensive astrological reading. The Draconic zodiac is a third valid zodiac (which has proven in evidence based research to produce accurate results), along with the Tropical zodiac, which is aligned with the Procession of the Equinox; and the Sidereal zodiac, which is aligned with the Fixed Stars. The Draconic zodiac is related to the North and South Nodes of the Moon. The Nodes of the Moon are invisible points that mark where the Moon passes over the path of ecliptic - which is the path of the Sun around the celestial sphere.

By aligning the North Node with 0 degrees Aries - using any person's Tropical natal configuration - the Draconic zodiac is revealed. All the planetary positions will remain in the same number of degrees from the North Node as in the original Tropical chart, but once the North Node is positioned at 0 Aries, all other planets are moved to a new position in the zodiac from their Tropical placement. These Draconic placements reveal an emotional residue of energy, and could be said to be related more to our past lives, rather than this current lifetime, however the Draconic placements are often felt by the individual. Many people even say that they “feel” more like their Draconic placements.

It’s always important to understand each person individually before looking into how compatible they are, because what an individual needs in relationship is very personal to them. We don’t all want and need the same things. Our level of awareness about our own issues and how much responsibility we each take also need to be assessed, as maturity is a huge factor in whether a relationship can work out or not.

*Important note: I only use the True Node. I have found through much use that the True Node is the accurate placement. The Mean Node can be two or more degrees off from the actual, exact placement of the Moon’s Nodes. I played with both Nodal placements until it became obvious to me that the True Node was the accurate Nodal placement. And after getting confirmation from trusted teachers with several decades of experience each, I will only use the True Node. But of course, you may need to play around with both and decide for yourself.

The Draconic Zodiac is extremely useful to in synastry, to get a clear understanding of these continuing lessons and connections that we share with other people. I believe most, if not all people will feel the Draconic connections. They reveal energies that we are already experiencing, but we might not have a clear explanation for if we are only looking at our Tropical to Tropical synastry.

Draconic synastry aspects are said to show the past life connections. If you don’t believe in reincarnation, you could simply say that it adds an emotional depth, as well as revealing to us deeper layers of purpose relating to the connection. This zodiac is very important, as the nodes of the Moon hold the secrets of our past and future life path. The South Node shows what we have worked on a great deal in the past and what we have already developed skill with. While the North Node reveals that which we are working on currently, to gain experience, mastery, as well as showing us our purpose and direction for this lifetime. We need to learn balance between the South Node, where we feel very comfortable and skillful, and our North Node, where we feel attracted, but also anxious and uncomfortable, because we haven’t developed this area deeply yet and it feels rather unknown to us.

Draconic to Draconic synastry - when you compare two Draconic charts - shows how you have been involved with each other in past lives (again, if you don’t believe in reincarnation, you can substitute any suitable belief that can explain an inexplicable, emotional connection that affects us often more profoundly than very obvious (Tropical) connections. It can be felt in this life, but it doesn’t feel as immediate and concrete as the Draconic to Tropical aspects feel. When the Draconic of one person directly connects with the Tropical planets or angles of the other person, it seems to make the connection more related to the current lifetime in a solid way.

When planets and angles are in contact from Draconic to Draconic, it does definitely add an emotional layer to the connection, but these aspects seem to be more of a residual feeling than something we are being asked to act on in our current lifetime.

Tropical to Draconic - when we overlay one person’s Draconic chart around another person’s Tropical chart - shows the deeper purpose of our connection with the other person. What we have intended to help them learn and grow through. How we will support them. How we might attract them at a very deep level, and vice versa. How we might be highlighting areas of life that they need to work at. It’s also useful to see how the Draconic Nodes overlay from one chart to the other - these houses will be highlighted as well.

Planets to angles, and angles to angles are very important with the Draconic aspects (as they are in the Tropical).

I have ALWAYS seen multiple, very close Draconic to Draconic or Draconic to Tropical aspects in the relationships of people who believe they have met their soulmate or Twin Flame. The Twin Flame concept is not a label I wish to encourage people to think about, because there is so much misinformation about it. Perhaps I will write about it more in a separate blog post. However, what I will say is that, when a person believes that what they are experiencing is a Twin Flame connection, the likely culprit - astrologically - is a tight Pluto to inner planet and Neptune to inner planet connection. Tight aspects to the angles might also be involved. Nodal connections also feel extremely “meant to be”. All of these will feel incredibly intense and hard to let go of. A combination of several of these are a doozy! And there would definitely be tight connection with relevant planets in the Draconic synastry.

In the next blog post, I will continue to explore Draconic synastry by going though specific aspects and example charts, using well-known couples or former couples.
