The Karen Read trial finished up at the end of June, 2025. It was the second trial for Ms. Read (the first trial happened in 2024), who was being tried for murder. She was accused of murdering her boyfriend, who was a Boston, Mass cop.
A bit of the backstory: Karen and her boyfriend, Officer John O'Keefe, who lived in the suburbs outside Boston, were having drinks at a couple of local bar/restaurants, interacting with friends also local to the small town of Canton, Mass. Some of the friends, who were mostly connected to John, were also in law enforcement. When the bars were closing, John was invited to come continue drinking at an "after party" at the house of Brian Albert, also a Boston cop. There were to be 10-15 other people at the house. Karen drove John to the house, though she says she wasn't sure they were really invited, and so she asked him to go in and make sure they were invited, and then let her know, and she'd join him if she got the green light. But John never messaged her back, and he never came back out of the house. So she left, to go back to his house and make sure his teenage kids were safe...but she was not happy about it. Karen sent John many angry voice messages, during the hours that she couldn't get a hold of him. She thought he might be cheating, and she was pissed.
After several hours, and during a snow storm that had blown in during the night, Karen went to look for John, at about 5 am. She enlisted a friend of John's, Jenn McCabe, who had been at the after party, at her sister and brother-in-law's house, the Alberts. Jenn directed Karen as to where to go look for John...eventually they went and looked at the house Karen had left him at, and he was lying out on the front lawn. Karen was hysterical, and at a couple points she screamed, "could I have hit him?"
Jenn claimed that John had never gone into the house, as did all the other witnesses who'd been at the party that night. They kept their story on the same track, though they frequently changed little details as it suited their story. However, with so many people, including law enforcement, saying basically the same thing, it appeared like it was an open and shut case. Karen just couldn't admit that she was the one that killed her boyfriend, John O'Keefe.
This is a very interesting case, and a very unusual case. Again, this was the second trial for Karen Read. In 2024 the trial ended with a hung jury. I found this a very interesting case, and an important one. As an American, the question of potentially being framed for a crime is a scary thought. And to have people in law enforcement collude together to frame someone to "protect their own", this is an even scarier thought, because law enforcement could get away with this more easily than your average citizen could.
So, what does the chart tell me? This chart was very straight forward and easy to see the answer in. Karen is represented by Venus (Lord 1), exalted in Pisces, in the 6th house (right on the cusp). She is confident, feels good about herself. She knows she is in the right, and so she can draw upon great strength in knowing that. The prosecution - the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - is ruled by Mars (Lord 7), located in the 10th house. The 10th house is the judge that resides over the trial. The 10th lord is the Moon, in Aries. The Moon favors Mars (the prosecution). The prosecution is in the 10th house of the judge, the prosecution is in the control of the judge. They are working together. However, the judge doesn't get to decide this trial, although she was able to put major roadblocks in the path of Karen and her team, and give them an added uphill battle in laying out their case. She did this in spades. The verdict (as decided by the jury) is shown by the ruler of the 4th house. In this chart, that planet is Saturn. Saturn is tightly conjunct Venus (Karen), with just 9 minutes orb. So, this shows me that they final decision, the verdict is with Karen - it is literally conjunct Karen. They support her all the way, in fact, they quite like her or sympathize with her, as they (Saturn) are in her sign of exaltation, Pisces. After a two month trial, the jury found Karen NOT GUILTY on any of the criminal charges of murder, but she was found guilty of Driving Under the Influence, for which she got a 1 year probation. Nice try Commonwealth, but not quite good enough.
