Harmonic charts can also be called Divisional Charts or Vibrational Charts.
In the use of Vibrational Astrology, Harmonic (or Vibrational) charts are extremely important. In Vedic Astrology, they are called Divisional charts. So, let’s go over energy (or vibration) the first thirty-two Harmonic charts hold.
1st Harmonic: Conjunctions (1st Harmonic) get their meaning from other planets that aspect them.
For example, suppose that the Sun and Moon are conjunct with an orb of 1 degree, and Venus is 1/7 the Sun and Moon. Then that person is playful and creative.
If on the other hand, Saturn is 1/7 the Sun and Moon, then the person is introverted and quiet.
When two or more planets conjunct each other they identify with each other. But even more important, we need to see what aspects are being made to the conjunct planets to get a better picture of how they are being affected by that particular aspect (depends what the aspect is and what the planet is). The quality of a conjunction is changed by the aspects.
2nd Harmonic: Opposition Aspects.
Polarity. Me and You. The 2nd Harmonic wants to share or relate to others.
3rd Harmonic: Trine Aspects.
Smooth and harmonious. Energy flows smoothly and naturally. Trines are now (with research by Vibrational Astrologers) understood to have difficulties - potentially anger or irritation - when the person who has the trines does not have the harmony they feel they need. When there isn’t the harmony, the person gets disturbed. It can really be an issue where the person fixates on the events that have caused more extreme lack of harmony.
*Note, however, that grand trines with small orbs are also challenging and dynamic because of the midpoint structures that are formed. Not smooth, as many astrologers believe. People involved in crime or revolutionaries often have a grand trine.
4th Harmonic: Square Aspects.
Motivation and drive. The square is not bad or difficult as is generally believed among many astrologers. The desire to do something, make changes, make some progress or achieve something with the planets involved. One feels challenged and motivated. There is an opportunity for growth. Transits and progressions involving a square can be quite challenging though.
5th Harmonic: 1/5 and 2/5 aspects – Quintile and Biquintiles.
Playfulness. Experimenting and having fun, in whatever way the particular planets involved would indicate. This leads to creativity.
6th Harmonic: Sextiles.
Pleasant and harmonious relating to others. Inclined to have pleasant conversations and interactions with others. Wants to share.
6 = 3 times 2 and the aspect has a combination of 3 and 2 qualities. 3 is like the trine (harmonious) and the 2 needs to share.
7th Harmonic: 1/7, 2/7, 3/7 aspects. Sometimes called the septile, biseptile and triseptile.
Quiet, meditative, observant, forms its own internal reality or way of seeing things, tending to be introverted and observant, inclined to abstract or symbolic thinking, diving beneath the more verbal chatter.
It is like being on a rowboat or canoe on a clear still lake and looking down and able to see the rocks, plants and fish at the bottom of the lake.
8th Harmonic: 1/8, 3/8 aspects. Sometimes called the semi-square and sesquiquadrate aspects.
Very similar to the square. Motivation and drive, feeling challenged by something and wanting to make a change and do something about it.
We call multiplying a number by 2 or 3 or 4 (or more), a higher octave of the number. 2*2 = 4. So 4 is the next octave of 2. 4*2 = 8. So 8 is the next octave of 4.
Octaves have a similar meaning. The higher octave is more internal (less obvious to others, but very much felt by the person and influencing them).
9th Harmonic: 1/9, 2/9, 4/9 aspects. Sometimes called the Novile, Binovile and Quadnovile aspects.
Although 9 = 3*3, so we might simply think they will be very smooth and harmonious. It has some additional qualities that the 3-vibration does not have.
Seeks integration and bonding with the community, family and the people and places in one’s neighborhood and community.
A healing and soothing quality to bring wholeness, bonding and a feeling of contentment. We are a part of the environment in which we live.
10th Harmonic: 1/10 and 3/10 aspects. These are sometimes called the decile and tridecile aspects.
Play with others. The 10th harmonic aspects are inclined to a game like tennis where you have an opponent and you must respond to the ball that your opponent hits back to you.
The 5th harmonic, on the other hand, will be just as content playing golf or in track where one does not directly respond to your opponent and only tries to play better than the other people who are playing.
11th Harmonic: 1/11, 2/11, 3/11, 4/11, 5/11 aspects.
Progressive, restless, hungry for change. Dissatisfied with things as they are. An 11th harmonic aspect with a small orb of Uranus to an inner planet inclines to instability and low impulse control. This instability can positively result in dynamic progress or can lead to dysfunction. The 11th harmonic aspects appear to be common when there are psychological problems.
The 11th harmonic is also inclined to music, evidently because as soon as one plays or sings one note, one must move on to the next note.
12th Harmonic: 1/12 (semisextile) and 5/12 (quincunx).
The semisextile gives a deeply ingrained quality to the person. It is difficult to think of the person in any other way other than in terms of these two planets.
12 = 3*4 and combines the challenging and dynamic quality of 4 with the freely flowing nature of 3, and is like a combination of yin and yang and results in a strong quality in the person.
The 5/12 aspect also gives a deeply ingrained quality, but there is a greater tension than in the 1/12 aspect. The 5/12 is one direction vs 5/12 in the other direction creates a tension between wanting to feel young and playful and wanting to be quiet and mature. Quincunx.
13th Harmonic: 1/13, 2/13, 3/13, ect…
Wanting to move beyond the average and the mediocre. Seeking to be special. Feeling entitled or outside the law or beyond the usual requirements of others. Having a hero or idols. Seeking greatness.
14th Harmonic: 1/14, 3/14, ect.
Quiet, inner focus, abstract or symbolic thinking, going below the chatter of the mind with other people.
Being a coach or trainer or being trained. Working with others in a club, secluded group or retreat. Respect for a master.
14 = 7*2
15th Harmonic: 1/15, ect.
Harmonious play. Playful in a non-competitive way. Desire for life to be an enjoyable process of discovery. Very uncomfortable in highly stressful environments. A loss of motivation if forced to compete or meet strict deadlines.
15 = 5*3.
16th Harmonic: 1/16, 3/16, ect.
Drive and motivation. Higher octave of 2, 4, and 8. At the 16th harmonic octave the motivation is internal, which means mental and emotional more than physical.
The higher harmonics give talent or problems with intensity.
The orb for a 16th harmonic aspect is 1 degree. The allowable orb is the harmonic divided by 16, so a 16th harmonic aspect has a 1 degree orb, and an 8th harmonic aspect has a 2 degree orb.
A square aspect with under a 1 degree orb is also acting as a 4/16 aspect so it is deeply driving and gives talent/problems and intensity.
17th Harmonic: Empathy. Interest in the stories of others. Stepping outside the context of your life to appreciate the stories of others in different circumstances and often in different cultures.
Incorporating insights, perspectives, beliefs, customs, habits, and different viewpoints wherever they can be found, without prejudice and without lots of prior assumptions. Especially inclined towards acting and theatre but also arts, literature and cultural experiences of all kinds. A non-linear way of thinking that incorporates different views and approaches. Interest in the way people understand, experience, interpret and find meaning in their lives.
18th Harmonic: A very strong need to connect with others in the community and the extended family. A person who builds community and brings positive communication between people. A strong need to feel included. Great compassion for those who are alienated or disenfranchised from the benefits that most people enjoy. A need to bring about peace and understanding.
19th Harmonic: Interest in seeing things from many points of view in order to better understand it. Open, receptive, and interested in the insights of artists, writers, philosophers, and scientist of all kinds. Inclined to abstract thinking, and a love of literature. The 17th and 19th harmonics are similar, and the 17th harmonic is more inclined to acting, theatre, or entertainment and is more Venusian and wants to experience the stories, and the 19th harmonic is a bit more strictly Mercurial, but these two harmonics are similar.
20th Harmonic: Creativity is important. A supporter of the arts. A person who supports individual expression.
A need to create things and to work in a creative way. The 20th harmonic aspects can become easily bored by repetitive tasks. Note that the 20th harmonic is regarded as inkling to be creative because the playfulness of 5 and the need to achieve of 4 combine together as the need to achieve something playful, interesting, or fascinating. The need to achieve and accomplish puts an emphasis on doing and accomplishing and this is likely to manifest as accomplishing something that is entertaining or fascinating in some way, and this can be referred to as creative.
21st Harmonic: Good focus and the ability to develop excellent technique. The ability to develop a natural flow and facility in a rigorous discipline. A disciplined or classical style that is not rigid or inflexible but rather has a classy quality or elegance.
Working to perfect the technique that gives a free-flowing elegance.
22nd Harmonic: restlessness and impatience and the tendency to feel stifled by others.
23rd Harmonic: Taking risks. An interest in trying out something new.
Following one’s personal intuition. Relying on one’s own perceptions regardless of the beliefs of the majority. Taking risks that others would avoid. Prone to social blunders as a result of having so much confidence in one’s own intuition and perceptions. Unusual interests or unusual approach based on one’s own unique synthesis of different methods of ideas.
24th Harmonic: A very important asset of the person. A deeply ingrained trait. Something the person has a talent with and wishes to express and share with others.
Also, the meaning of the 24th harmonic aspects is strongly influenced by the numerator, so for example, the 5/24 aspect is more subtle and creative than the 11/24 aspect. The 11/24 aspect is restless and dynamic. The 7/24 aspect is a bit introverted and focused. Overall, the 24th harmonic aspects indicate resources available to the person; they represent characteristics and qualities that can be used to achieve goals, although the 11/24 aspect does make some pressing demands of the person more than other 24th harmonic aspects.
25th Harmonic: An exceptionally creative, inventive, or playful tendency. The person sees things in a new way and feels bored by doing things the same old way.
26th Harmonic: A distaste for mediocre results. Seeking a hero and the desire to be involved with people who have a great vision, talent and motivation. An overwhelming need to break through to a new level of accomplishment that may not be obvious in the person’s behaviour and mannerisms but is evident in the enthusiasm and dedication to visions, dreams and goals.
Feeling entitled to follow one’s own rules and sometimes consequently having power struggles with others. A sense of entitlement and sometimes idolising a hero and following the lead of a hero.
27th Harmonic: A deep need for peace and comfort. A strong pacifist tendency and an unwillingness to be involved in hostilities. A tendency to become ill or distraught from being in an inharmonious atmosphere. An idealist.
28th Harmonic: Seeking perfection. Striving to achieve greater depth and proficiency. A distaste for the easy way out. A need for sustained activities; extraordinary stamina, consistency, and durability, but also a tendency to crack under too much pressure.
29th Harmonic: A sense of evolution and progress. A desire to bring things to a higher level of functioning. A belief that all is working towards a higher good. Exploring new methods or new perspectives to achieve greater progress. An interest in the methods of other cultures. A sense that there are no simple answers and we must use ingenuity and be receptive to new points of view. A belief that creative solutions and open exchange among people will bring a better world.
30th Harmonic: Cleverness and imagination. Facility for keeping others entertained and interested in something. Ability to synthesize different elements in an interesting and harmonious way. Supporting the arts or other forms of creativity.
31st Harmonic: A sense of awe, wonder, and mystery. Not expecting overly simplified answers to life’s mysteries. Preferring to live with the unknown rather than create an overly simplistic answer. A sense that life is best lived finding what answers we can but realising there will always be new unanswered questions.
32nd Harmonic: The inner drives, talents, and motivations of a person. These inner drives are often not obvious in the behaviour and personality of the person but are strong indicators of how the person thinks and processes information, and what is very important to the person.
