Neptune: Spirituality and Delusion
The part Neptune plays in the lives of people with unhealed trauma in their search for meaning in life

How Neptune can cause us to allow abuse to continue, as we fail to use discernment
This is a subject that seems to pop up a lot, partly because it’s been a big theme in my life and also the lives of people around me. So, I feel it’s worth talking about.
An understanding about the connection between Neptune and abuse/trauma and the tendency of people with unhealed trauma to be inclined to avoid feelings and facing situations that trigger the unhealed trauma or abuse.
Neptune is the modern ruler the last sign of Pisces. Neptune rules the Oceans and water, as well as poisons and epidemics. It has a dreamy quality, very diffuse and foggy. Nothing is clear when Neptune is involved. Neptune rules addition, alcohol, escapism and fantasy. And, as makes perfect sense, illusion and delusion are also ruled by Neptune.
The epiphany that became so suddenly clear - Neptune can make it hard to have clarity at all, so Neptune itself can be hard to understand, because of it’s nature - is how Neptune relates to trauma, abuse and the attraction to spiritual and religious groups, practices and ideals. It seems to me that people who are more likely to get involved in cults or cult-like groups that are based in seemingly beautiful and high ideals - often far-reaching and relating to life and the beyond - are more likely to be people who have more trauma than most and who are looking to escape the harsher realities of life on Earth.
Because these people want to focus only on things that make them feel good (and they will tend to avoid feeling anything that they judge as bad, negative or uncomfortable), they can also bury their head in the sand about things that happen within the group, family or organization that they take part in. They are less likely to see obvious red-flags, that others who aren’t under the influence of Neptune to such a large degree (this is also true for people with personal planets in the 12th house).
Once such case (out of many) that has recently popped back up in my world: the sexual exploitation of teenagers by a spiritual guru. Most of the people who were students of this guru seem to have been able to disregard these harmful actions against the teenagers, because they assume that he was fully aligned with a Higher force (Enlightened) and was thus above reproach. That he couldn’t do anything wrong. However, the the sexual abuse has done it’s damage, caused distortions in the teens as they grew into adults, caused confusion around boundaries and what they actually want(ed). And it can have a negative affect for many years to come.
As I’ve seen many times in various cases, people will disregard the harm caused by saying “there are no victims” and that “all people attract to themselves everything that happens in their life”, misusing the Law of Attraction to take any responsibility away from the adult/authority figure who abuses their power. The abuser can easily manipulate others to get his or her desires fulfilled, all while refusing to see what any truly spiritually powerful person would easily see, how they are causing pain, suffering and confusion to the “other”.
What I’ve mentioned above is a very real case, one that is so very common. Not just with children, but adult students can be easily manipulated to disregard their inner knowing and instinct, that something is not right about the situation, and that they don’t want it…they often give their power away to someone who they believe knows better. And all of this leads these genuine people, who really do want to feel a deep union with the Divine - but with such teachers, they end up feeling more separation as they stop trusting their own Soul, which is the direct inner connection to God.
This is why it is so important that we face the more difficult parts of our humanness, rather than avoid them…pretending that everything is “Love and Light” only leads people into delusion and a refusal to see clearly. Letting go of our discernment as we strive to grow and evolve into higher states of consciousness might be common, but it’s so dangerous. We have to remember how to say no when that is what we feel. How to stay human for as long as we are living in this third dimensional world.
